Wine down Summer

This was too cute to leave out

This week marked the first day of fall. I love summer but it also doesn’t feel like summer when you’re working from home, wearing sweatpants and only leaving the house when you have plans. Summer is normally extremely busy and filled with a lot of pool days. So I’m not too mad that fall has arrived. I’ve already greeted pumpkin in the form of coffee, creamer, and muffins. I’m planning a Trader Joe’s haul this weekend to clear them out of anything related to pumpkin – Sorry in advance, Easton Towne Center!

I planned a wine night with one of my girlfriends at a fairly new wine bar in Dublin, Ohio. I’m on the east side of Columbus and Dublin is on the West so I never venture to that side of town. But Coast Wine House was the perfect spot to meet. They were hosting an Italian Holiday pop-up, featuring wine and food from Italy. We actually ordered cocktails and bought wine to take home. The shareable food was light and refreshing, even Olivia enjoyed the corn and burrata salad! We sat at a table for two on the front porch and it was the perfect setting. Definitely recommend checking out Coast Wine House for a drink, a bite to eat, or for a small party/gathering.

The mix of “Italian Holiday” plus a coastal vibe had me SET one wearing this matching set from Petal and Pup. I ordered it during their July 4th drop but hadn’t planned on wearing it for any 4th of July activities. I loved the European vibe it’s giving off. Plus you can mix and match the pieces – pair the shorts with another top and the top with jeans and white birks or sneakers for a casual fit.

I will let you in on a secret… the length of the shirt covered the shorts in the back so it was much longer than I wanted. I ordered some hemming tape off of Amazon, rolled up the hem of the shirt to the height of the tape, and ironed it. It worked perfectly and you couldn’t even tell. Some reviews said the tape dissolved in the wash, which I was okay with because this was more of a temporary fix; However, I washed the outfit and everything stayed intact!

I still have a few summer posts to catch up on, so you may not see fall Inspo until mid October! I still need to re-arrange my closet and pull out my fall items anyway :). It’s such a project..

A Pop of Red….it’s the holiday season!

I love this scarf!!!  It’s sold out almost everywhere so most sellers raised the prices to something astronomical.  I came close to opening my wallet and punching in my credit card number….or even worse, signing into pay pal – one click and that scarf would be mine, all mine!  After clearing my head, I signed into eBay and purchased it for the very affordable price of $12.99 – then waited almost two months for it to ship from China, ha!

I’m still learning how to wear it around without it feeling like a neck brace.  Does anyone else feel a little restricted with their head movements?  It’s especially difficult to drive in – When I need to merge right, I try to turn my head, but my whole body moves instead, which also pulls my car to the right – watch out on those Columbus highways, people! Sooo, that’s dangerous…

Moving on….. Being the holiday season, I wanted to keep it neutral but play on the red in the scarf.  I wore this cream sweater and paired it with olive jeans which also match the scarf.  Add my favorite brown booties with the glitz and the glam on the heel and a red winter headband and red lips to complete the look!

A Birthday Collection

When it comes to my birthday, I don’t mess around! It only comes once a year so I start celebrating the first of July (I mean, America is already celebrating Christmas before Thanksgiving…. why should my birthday be any different?).

In 2014, I’ve now been living in Columbus for a year now.  I moved back from Minneapolis because I missed my friends, my family…. I was professionally happy, but I was still missing something to complete my personal happiness.  I can honestly say that now I am personally happy being so close to my family, living in the same city as my best friends, and being swept off my feet every time I’m with my boyfriend.

I’ve learned to realize what I love about life, what makes me happy, and that the future can change focus.  I’ve accomplished professional goals and personal (débuting a pop song, starting this blog….).

This year, I had my nearest and dearest meet me out for martinis and dinner, a fantastic seafood dinner with my parents (I absolutely recommend the Lobster and Shrimp stuffed cod !!  My mouth is watering now just thinking about dinner – OMG), and to end my birthday month, a romantic dinner with the boyfriend.

I’m happy, grateful, and lucky to live another year!  I’m also freaking out that 3-0 is just that much closer……

I had bigger things to worry about than turning 30 right now, with all of my birthday plans comes several birthday outfits:

Southern Charm Meets Vintage Elegance

I was recently in Nashville for a wedding.  Not just any wedding – a wedding that most girl’s dream about! Picture something like an Instagram inspired, Pinterest perfect, wedding bell bliss! I mean it, get ready to take notes!!

Friday night, my boyfriend and I attended the Rehearsal dinner.  From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with unlimited Tennessee Tea’s!  Later on, the dinner they served was your typical Southern feast – fried chicken, mashed potatoes, collard greens, corn pudding…… Ahh, I think I gained 10 pounds just thinking about it!

Saturday night were the nuptials., but let’s fast forward to the reception!  The reception took place at this beautiful plantation house – In that moment, I knew what it was like to pretend to be Melanie Carmichael (Only in Nashville, not Alabama).  Okay, just a few of my favorite things from the night: 1. a stack of antique luggage and decorations where we found our names and setting arrangements. 2. A romantic scene off to the corner with a blanket, pillow, flowers, wine, a Just Married sign and a chalkboard that said, Reserved for Shannon and Scott.  3.  A basket filled with blankets and sign that read Borrow A Blanket And Snuggle (Clearly I am a rebel since I kept mine…) 4. An abandoned black barn with chandeliers and a wall of mirrors.  5. A shelf filled with old family wedding pictures (must file this idea away and use at my wedding) and 6. The music!
