Moms Love Rosé in the Park

This is the first Mother’s Day since I’ve been a mama where we had beautiful weather!! We live in Ohio where April showers bring more May showers. It actually rained Saturday and stayed overcast. We got lucky on Sunday!

Last year, we did breakfast in bed and I thought that might be a new tradition. Nearby, we had a new market that opened with a few food vendors, a bar, speak easy, and an event center all in one building! The grand opened was last weekend (we didn’t go because, I’m not gonna lie, prefer being out in public when there aren’t big crowds. We showed up exactly at 11AM when it opened. Ordered some food and waited with mimosas on the outdoor patio. We were back at home in time for Olivia’s nap and that’s when I got our picnic basket ready: Rosé, black truffle guyere cheese, pepperoni wrapped white cheddar, wheat crackers, and dried fruit. I know these aren’t perfect pairings to rose, but it’s all about Mom and what she wants.

Truthfully, I’ve never been on a picnic. So my vision for a picnic experience might be shaped by images I’ve seen going viral, setups on TV, and on advertisements. I pictured romantic, florals, gingham, feminine…. so this dress was perfect for my vision. The right about of girly, ruffles, Peter Pan collars, pastels… everything but the gingham print (didn’t want to clash with the blanket). This dress is more of a splurge, but if you’re lucky enough to find it on a resell website, they are more affordable! I’m in between an XS/S and I’m wearing a small. The length is not too short, even with heels! It is a little looser up top and the tie string doesn’t do much to adjust that. The buttons are functional and there’s also a silver zip closure on the side.

Speaking of heels.. while it did look silly to chase my toddler around the park in heels and a dress…. how good is this combo? These suede lace up heels match the pastel florals perfectly and complete this outfit with a nice pop of color. This is my fourth time wearing these shoes and they’re extremely comfortable! I think they fit TTS.

I was able to link a very similar, if not the same picnic basket on my LTK page. This was a bridal shower gift years ago and I’ve been dying to use it! We’ve packed it on our beach vacations every year, but have only used it to carry wine to and from the beach at sunset and use the plastic cups, lol. It is a whole table setting for two – plates, cups, napkins, cutlery, s&p shakers, plus the washable blanket. Good amount of space inside too. Makes a great bridal shower, wedding, anniversary, birthday, or Mother’s Day gift!

Highly recommend a picnic in the park this Spring! It was really relaxing to sit around drinking rose in the sun. Let me know how in the comments how you celebrated and what your ideas are for Father’s Day, too! xoxo

Last Minute Holiday Outfit

Only TWO more sleeps until Christmas Day!! Hopefully gifts are purchased & wrapped, meals are planned, and houses are cleaned. As an adult, it’s so stressful during this time! I’m so excited to see Christmas through my toddlers eyes. She reminds me it’s a magical time! Another stress point is.. WHAT TO WEAR. I definitely wait until the last minute to decide, search through my closet, find nothing, and panic! Luckily one of my favorite retailers offers two day shipping for FREE! If you’re in need of a last minute Holiday outfit (Christmas or NYE), I’ve linked a few of my favorites, including this dress!

This dress is a whole VIBE! I was worried this dress would either be too short or too puffy. I’ve never heard of this brand before but it’s started by one of the Co-Founders of Wildfox. I love this crimson color with the green and white florals. It’s red and green but not in your face Christmas-y. Perfect to wear after the holidays too. I took a chance and ordered an XS – a) it was the only size available and b) it was listed as a size 4 so I assumed it would fit but it was tight. A small would have been more comfortable. However, the length is perfect (I’m 5’2″) and still looks fine paired with nude heels. The organza fabric give this dress the perfect shape and the elastic trim on the sleeves isn’t restricting. My favorite part is the neckline – it’s so feminine. Makes me feel so glam…

I’ll be sharing one more Christmas look… it’s pretty extra but will be perfect for NYE, too. For now, Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!! xoxo

Labor Day and Lobsters

Where did summer go?! At least we enjoyed a nice long weekend as a family! Thinking about the end of summer also has me thinking about the outfits I haven’t had an opportunity to wear :(. This floral onesie is one of the first items I purchased for Olivia at the beginning of summer for our trip to Martha’s Vineyard. At the end of July, I purchased this women’s dress because the print is almost identical to the baby onesie. But by the end of summer, I’m running out of reasons to dress up! So why not create my own? Not gonna lie, this dress may have sparked the need for homemade lobster rolls. The print just screams New England to me. When I saw Luke’s Maine Lobster meat was available at Whole Foods, I decided to order it! The reviews were great, lots of mentions about the meat being generous portions as well as tasting great! I couldn’t find any ‘split top rolls’ and I didn’t want just plain hot dog buns, so I compromised with some brioche buns. They were fresh and fluffier than hot dog buns. I decided to serve the lobster hot so sautéed the meat in some oil in a frying pan. I added a little mayo, lemon juice, and a few pinches of the seasoning that came with the meat. Once cooked, I added to the brioche buns, added a little butter to the frying pan and then browned the meat and buns. Served with homemade French fries (roasted with some salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic, and cumin in the oven at 400*) and some buttered frozen corn (would have preferred corn on the cob, but it’s too late in the season for fresh corn on the cob). Finally, can’t forget the white wine! Since I was ordering from Amazon Fresh and Whole Foods, my choices were limited. I chose the Butter Chardonnay – the price point and taste are excellent. It was a perfect pairing! *Chef’s kiss*

Okay, you’ve waiting long enough….. THIS DRESS. It is a Reformation DUPE! I’ve also seen a similar version floating around on chic wish but I wasn’t successful at searching for it at the moment. I ordered it from Avanti the label (here). This is the THIRD Avanti dress I’ve blogged about so you should know by now this boutique is the real deal! I’m wearing a small, but it does fit a little snug. The length is perfect on me (I’m 5’3″). The ruffle hem is so romantic. I can’t wait to wear this dress OUT OF THE HOUSE. But the white and blue was perfect for Labor Day festivities. The straps are adjustable but I didn’t want to risk untying the perfect bow! I also didn’t want to risk getting any butter or oil and ruining the delicate fabric during dinner. These lobster bibs were perfect and festive for our event! Olivia wore hers for .5 seconds before she was realized she could rip it off, lol.

I’ll be back next week to wrap up our trip to Oregon, specifically exploring the Willamette Valley. xoxo

First Birthday Party

One year already?! Every day with this girl is special, but celebrating her first birthday party is a celebration I’ll never forget (& she’ll never remember, lol). We started with a trip to the zoo on her actual birthday, March 9th. Olivia was more interested in other kids than the animals but we also don’t leave the house much, unless it’s a walk in our neighborhood. It was so much fun watching her expressions as she looked around at new scenery.

Over the weekend we had TWO parties – one with DeDe and G Mike and one with Oma and Papa. Unfortunately, we’re still not comfortable merging families until everyone is vaccinated (so soon!). Plus what a lucky kid to have multiple birthday parties! Stressful for the parents who have to clean, cook, bake, and decorate all weekend 🙂

Verdict is…. she likes cake! Look at that smile 🙂
Balloon garland is from amazon, the curtain is borrowed from her nursery windows, the name sign was a gift at my baby shower (from Etsy), high chair Ikea, seat cover/mat Yeah Baby Goods, and 1 banner from Amazon.
The cutest rose gold tableware
Okay, this icing made it SO EASY to decorate cupcakes. It comes with 4 different tips. Thank goodness this exists 🙂
Ta – da! They’re not the most perfect but they sure were easy to decorate!
My parents bought their first grandchild a car, lol! OMG, it’s so realistic.

Such a fun weekend! Both for Livvy and for us. She got nonstop hugs and kisses for 48 hours straight, and we got to spend time with family and feel a sense of normalcy. But, this weekend also opened our eyes to how lucky we had it with a newborn, staying at home, and keeping a strict schedule. A combination of parties, fun, cake (sugar), and spring forward made our bedtime routines later and last a little longer. Parents were exhausted by Sunday night, lol!

This dress from Red Dress Boutique is stunning! I love the pastel color, the floral design, the movement, long sleeves, boho vibe.. but I’m wearing a small and wish it were offered in an XS. I felt a little swallowed by this dress. I did wear some nude block heels (not pictured) to help with length, but the top of the dress was very roomy and felt a little too big. I ended up wearing a cami underneath to feel more secure.
